i have noticed threw the many tattoos i have that some bleed longer than others. for example i have several on my arms and by the time i got home maybe a hour or two later the bleeding has stopped. and i have a few on my legs and my most recent on my calf took quite a bit longer. it didnt actually stop bleeding totally til the next day. is there certain things that need to be different as far as keeping it covered or under bandage for a day or so longer. and since i work in a enviroment
dfwtattoo, 8 months ago | Flagwell this is just what i did. after tattoo was completed of course lol.... i left the saran wrap on for a few hours. i went to wally world to get a few things to help. and since my work enviromentis very very dusty and i didnt want to get dust in it i wrapped it with triple anti biotic ointment. and in the evenings i used some anti biotic soap to clean when i was in shower. i had it wrapped for like 3 or 4 days and after that i used some skin lotion. and kept it unwrapped after the 4th day. and after 3 weeks of healing and putting lotion on it everyday it seems to be healing just fine. i got threw the itching stage withing the first few days after leaving it unwrapped. the hardest thing for me to deal with was after several hours of relaxing the muscle (tattoo is on calf) and then moving the muscle was quite uncomforta ble. but manageable . this is just what i did to make sure i held the integrity of the tattoo. and protect lobos hard work he did on it. so i say always follow what the artist says also. and if conditions in the work enviroment are extreme discuss them with your artist at time of tattoo. and they will stear you in the right direction. ....
Former Member , 9 months ago | FlagI have heard so many different ways to heal a tattoo it isn't funny. I tell my clients one way (with a&d) but I keep mine wrapped with shrink wrap for about 5 days. Change it about every 3 hours and just rewrap. no crap..justwrap..afte r 5 days go to curel hand moisturize r and use it till the end of days. Many studios don't tell clients about this way cuz if not kept clean you stand a good chance of infection. I say follow what the artist tells you and bleeding can be different in different areas. calfs tend to bleed a little longer.
Former Member , 9 months ago | FlagIn my opinion keeping it bandaged longer than 4 hours is not such a good idea. your tattoo needs air to heal thats why we no longer advise smearing with a.d. oint. The location of the tattoo can often dictate how much residuial bleeding there is, aswell as how thin your blood is that day. Alchol, over hydration with water, even asprin can cause it to bleed a bit longer than normal. Continue to follow your aftercare instructions to the letter and all should heal up well. -Rev
